BROOKE CALLS ISAIAH — A PAINFUL CONFRONTATION
SCENE 1 — BROOKE’S HOUSE — LIVING ROOM — EVENING
The room is quiet.
Brooke sits alone on the couch, staring at her phone. Her eyes are filled with disappointment and anger.
She takes a deep breath before finally dialing Isaiah’s number.
The phone rings.
Once.
Twice.
Isaiah answers.
“Hello?”
Brooke remains silent for a moment.
Her voice is shaky when she finally speaks.
“Isaiah… we need to talk.”
Isaiah sounds uncomfortable.
“Brooke, what is this about?”
Brooke closes her eyes, trying to control her emotions.
“You used to tell me that you would never leave me.”
“You told me that you could never live without me. You made me believe that I meant everything to you.”
Isaiah says nothing.
Brooke’s eyes begin to fill with tears.
“But now I realize that maybe none of it was real.”
Isaiah sighs.
“Brooke, things changed.”
Brooke immediately becomes angry.
“Things changed? That’s all you have to say?”
“You made promises to me, Isaiah. You told me that you loved me. You made me believe that you were serious about us.”
“But now I feel like you were only using me and wasting my time.”
Isaiah looks down at the floor.
“I never wanted to hurt you.”
Brooke shakes her head.
“Then tell me why you did this.”
A long silence follows.
SCENE 2 — THE QUESTION THAT HURTS
Brooke wipes away a tear.
She desperately wants an answer.
“Tell me, Isaiah… why did you betray me?”
“What did I ever do wrong?”
“Was I not good enough for you? Did I do something that made you stop loving me?”
“Brooke, this isn’t about you.”
Brooke looks shocked.
“Then what is it about?”
Isaiah takes a deep breath.
“I’ve moved on.”
Brooke’s face changes.
The words hit her hard.
“You’ve moved on?”
“Yes.”
Brooke slowly sits back down.
She looks at her phone as if she can’t believe what she just heard.
“So everything we had just meant nothing?”
Isaiah doesn’t answer.
Brooke’s disappointment turns into anger.
“You could have been honest with me.”
“You could have told me the truth instead of letting me believe that you were still mine.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Sorry doesn’t fix everything, Isaiah.”
The call becomes silent.
Then Isaiah suddenly says something that Brooke never expected.
“There’s something else.”
“What?”
Isaiah looks toward his new girlfriend, who is standing nearby.
He takes her hand.
“I want us to get engaged.”
His new girlfriend smiles.
Brooke hears everything through the phone.
Her expression freezes.
“What did you just say?”
“I think we should get engaged. I want us to take the next step together.”
Brooke’s eyes fill with tears.
“You’re getting engaged?”
Isaiah remains silent.
Brooke slowly lowers the phone.
The call ends.
SCENE 3 — ISAIAH’S NEW BEGINNING
Later that evening, Isaiah stands beside his new girlfriend.
Their families and friends gather around them.
The atmosphere is celebratory.
Everyone is smiling.
Isaiah looks happy.
His new girlfriend looks excited as they exchange rings.
Applause fills the room.
“I’m ready to start a new chapter of my life.”
“And I’m ready to start it with you.”
They look at each other.
The engagement celebration continues.
But somewhere else, Brooke is still trying to process what happened.
SCENE 4 — LARRY AND BROOKE ARRIVE
The next day, Larry and Brooke arrive at the engagement celebration.
Larry notices that Brooke is unusually quiet.
“Brooke, are you okay?”
Brooke forces a small smile.
“I’m fine.”
Larry looks at her carefully.
“You don’t look fine.”
“I just don’t want to talk about it right now.”
Larry nods.
They walk inside.
Brooke looks around the room.
People are laughing and celebrating.
Then she suddenly stops.
Her eyes widen.
Across the room, she sees Isaiah.
He is standing beside his new girlfriend.
The engagement ring is clearly visible.
Brooke’s face turns pale.
“Isaiah…”
Larry follows her gaze.
“Is that Isaiah?”
Brooke doesn’t answer.
She simply stares.
Isaiah notices Brooke.
His smile disappears.
He looks shocked to see her there.
The room suddenly feels silent to Brooke, even though everyone else is still talking.
SCENE 5 — BROOKE’S PAINFUL MOMENT
Brooke takes a step forward.
Larry gently stops her.
“Brooke, wait.”
Brooke looks at him.
Her eyes are filled with anger and heartbreak.
“He lied to me.”
“He told me he would never leave me.”
“And now he’s standing there getting engaged to someone else.”
Larry looks toward Isaiah.
“Did he know you were coming?”
“I don’t know.”
Isaiah slowly walks toward them.
His new fiancée remains behind.
“Brooke…”
Brooke immediately raises her hand.
“Don’t.”
Isaiah stops.
“You already said enough.”
“I never wanted things to end this way.”
Brooke lets out a bitter laugh.
“But you chose this.”
“You chose someone else.”
Isaiah lowers his head.
“You should have been honest with Brooke from the beginning.”
“I understand.”
“No. I don’t think you do.”
Brooke wipes her tears.
She refuses to let Isaiah see how deeply hurt she is.
“I trusted you.”
“That was my mistake.”
“Brooke, I’m sorry.”
“I don’t need your apology anymore.”
She turns away.
Larry stays beside her.
The celebration continues behind them, but Brooke can no longer hear the laughter.
She takes one last look at Isaiah.
He is standing beside the person he chose.
Brooke turns around.
“Let’s go, Larry.”
Larry nods.
He walks beside her as they leave.
Isaiah watches them disappear through the door.
For the first time, his smile is completely gone.
The door closes.
Brooke walks outside with tears in her eyes, while Larry remains by her side.
Inside, the engagement celebration continues.
But for Brooke, everything has changed.
